The Goddess of YA Literature - PD Opportunity

The “Down in the Valley: South Texas Library Mini-Conference” will be held at the McAllen Public Library/ Main Library on Monday, August 5th. This conference is the first collaborative effort between public and school librarians in the Rio Grande Valley. The registration for library students will be $10. The fee includes a full day of informative sessions as well as breakfast and lunch.

I’m working alongside our friends Billy Cryer, MPL Teen Services Supervisor, and Michelle Shelton, MPL Children’s Supervisor, and other regional library coordinators to produce an awesome day full of helpful topics. The theme of the conference is "Digital Resources for Today's Students.”

The conference committee planning members are pleased to offer a wide range of workshops relating to the topic of technology and students. There will also be an hour-long lightning round, an informal session for the conference goers to discuss any issue at hand, or to wax eloquently (but briefly) on hot issues.

Registration for students is $10 and for practicing librarians is $15 (to be paid in cash or by check on the morning of the event) and includes breakfast and lunch. Please RSVP by sending an email to bcryer@mcallen.net and include your name, title, organization, email, phone, and business address.
