For several years the people of Avoca banded together to refurbish downtown and breathe new life into the city of 1,600. Their efforts resulted in a beautiful streetscape project that features old-fashioned streetlights, new benches, landscaped nodes and refurbished building facades.
Their efforts also earned recognition from the Iowa League of Cities as an All-Star Community.
