When MTV announced the nominations for the 2013 Video Music Awards, our initial reaction was 'oh very nice'. But then it dawned on us and we went all 'hold the phone and shut the front door - where the frick are all One Direction's noms?'. Like...they went home with four surfboards at the Teen Choice Awards the other night. They're QUITE POPULAR.
But never fear, folks - our boys actually *are* up for an award. The tracks in the running for the Best Song of the Summer gong have just been revealed and Best Song Ever is very much among them. Hooray and hoorah.
As if we weren't excited enough for the big old glitzy VMAs bash on August 25th (those Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry teasers have had us on the edge of our spinny desk chairs), the fellas are up against these catchy ditties in the category:
- Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop
- Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell Williams & T.I. - Blurred Lines
- Daft Punk - Get Lucky
- Selena Gomez - Come & Get It
- Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding - I Need Your Love.
But Best Song Ever *has* to win, right? It's the best song...er...ever, nevermind of the ruddy summer.
And guess what? Not only are the chaps up for a gong, but they're also gonna be presenting an award on the night. Awoo.
