Stars of television, film, music and sports beat the Los Angeles heat for the 2015 Teen Choice Awards. Hitting the red carpet were Lea Michelle, Chloe Grace Moretz, Sarah Hyland, Britney Spears, Emma Roberts, Zendaya, Nina Dobrev, Victoria Justice, Rita Ora, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Peyton List, Gina Rodriguez, Willow Shields, Vin Diesel, Jason Derulo, Ludacris and many more.
The night’s most emotional moment went to the cast of Furious 7 who took the stage to accept the Choice Movie: Action/Adventure award. Paul Walker also won the Choice Movie Actor award in the action category and his co-stars Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez paid tribute to Walker who died in a car accident in November 2013.
With Walker’s daughter Meadow looking on in the audience, Diesel said, “I can’t stand here and be rewarded like this without talking about someone very, very important to us. One of the best blessings in our lives is that we have the opportunity to call Pablo a brother. Paul Walker is here with us in spirit.”
He added, “This was a very special movie for us to make. We make these movies with our hearts. We really are a family…We are a true, true, true family.”
Another of the night’s memorable moments belonged to Choice TV Actress, Sci-Fi/Fantasy winner Nina Dobrev who graced the stage with vampire fangs in her mouth which was a sight to see. Unsuccessfully trying to get her words out, Dobrev took out the fangs, quipping, “That’s right! I don’t need these anymore.”
The former Vampire Diaries star continued (fangless), “The last few months have been a big change for me. Change. It’s a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown.”
She continued, “But change is necessary. Necessary for you to grow up and learn and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end. As this chapter of my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart, and I smile, because just like my character Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we grew up. We’ve grown up and over the last six years we’ve become women.”
Other big winners included Shailene Woodley, Jennifer Lawrence, Chloe Grace Moretz, Anna Kendrick, Cara Delevingne, Channing Tatum and Josh Hutcherson for film acting honors with Lucy Hale and Lea Michele among the top television award winners. One Direction, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony and Wiz Khalifa cleaned up in the music department.
